Physical Description Mercy is a woman of semi-ambiguous heritage with long dark brown hair, caramel colored skin, and brown eyes that hide the intense intelligence she possesses. Her build is unassuming, but through her years in Zion she has progressively grown stronger after a life of atrophy spent in the pods.

When she moves, it is with purpose, and her skilled hands are hardly ever idle. She is a woman who can navigate the world unnoticed, but once noticed, she is hard to forget.

Personality & Traits

General Overview Quiet would be the first adjective anyone would use when describing Mercy, reliable would be the second.

She is a woman of very few words, but when they are spoken, they are usually words of encouragement, reassurance, and warmth given during the darkest moments for many. When she is at work, Mercy is confident, collected, and commanding. Despite her youth, she operates with the professionalism and presence of someone ten years her senior.

When her work comes to an end, however, Mercy lives in a state of perpetual mild anxiety. While in the Matrix due to her gifted mind, Mercy had few she could call friends and struggled to feel like she could relate to those around her; these struggles remained even in her transition to the Real World. While she longs for connection, she keeps a distance from those around her for fear her own questionable social skills might drive away others.

She has a kind and caring heart with a longing to help those who most need it, but struggles to accept help herself. As a child strictly punished when she was found wanting, failure and mistakes are not options for her; on the occasion she does make them, it is a crushing blow to her confidence. Her self worth is derived strictly from her ability to perform her duty; idleness is uncomfortable as it feels like failure.

She is a woman who wishes to simply disappear into the crowd but also longs to be seen. In the quiet moments at times, she remembers the comfort of her family in the Matrix and misses the love and security it brought her, fabricated or not.
Strengths & Weaknesses Intelligence: Mercy was and still remains an individual with markedly elevated intelligence. In the Matrix, she attended university in her early teen years then moved to medical school where she was a fourth year medical student by the age of 20. She can not only memorize information very easily, but can also put it into practice to great effect. While this skill has more limited use with the redpill's ability to simply have skills uploaded to them, it does provide Mercy with a greater mental endurance to process these uploads and was a key reason in her early completion of the redpill acclimation and training programs of the War College.

Medical Expertise: Inside of the Matrix, Mercy was a mere four months away from finishing her emergency medical fellowship in Mega City. This has imbued her with the skills to stabilize some of the most dire cases of injury with little resources. She is also skilled in general medicine and obstetrics.

Reliable: If Mercy commits to something, she will do everything in her power to follow through. This is a trait that has both endeared her and earned her respect to those who have been beneficiaries of it.

Composed: Even in the face of complete chaos, Mercy can remain composed and clear minded, a trait that serves her well in her chosen profession. Even if she suffers making a mistake, it is an extremely rare occurrence that she allows it to affect her in the moment.

Hand/Eye Coordination and Fine Motor Skills: Due to her profession, Mercy has above average hand/eye coordination and fine motor skills which allow her to handle and repair delicate machinery just as well as she repairs bodies. These also allow her to man gun batteries in case of emergency.

Compassionate: To her core, she is driven by compassionate tendencies and does not hesitate to make personal sacrifices. This trait that most would consider a positive one, however, is often time exercised to the point where it is actively detrimental to Mercy herself either physically or mentally. She tries to see something positive in everything or everyone - even when it is clear nothing exists.

Timid and Shy: While working, Mercy is confident and composed, but the moment she steps out of that environment, she becomes a wall flower. She keeps to herself whenever possible as it seems most any social interaction she attempts to engage ends awkwardly either due to her own failings or subtle prejudices against “pod borns”.

Workaholic: When she is not working, Mercy feels adrift, which is a feeling that she cannot sit with for long or she becomes anxious and her mind drifts back to the relative calm and comfort of the Matrix. Work is a distraction and a lifeline for her, and often she irresponsibly neglects herself in the name of “just going to finish one last thing”.

Frozen by Failure: While her ability to remain composed (and also with the help of sheer adrenaline) in high stress situations keeps her focused in the moment, if when the dust settles and she is confronted by a mistake of failure, she completely falls apart. She will withdraw both physically and mentally from those around her and proceed to overanalyze the series of events that occurred while thoroughly lambasting herself for her failings. On the rare occasion a mistake is so egregious that her composure cannot press through it, she may physically and mentally freeze up for a brief period and become a liability.

Reclusive: Despite the warmth and social nature of the civilization in Zion, Mercy is reclusive as a result of past bad experiences both inside and outside of the Matrix. This leaves her with a lack of support system and having to bear the weight of this new life on her own.

Called by the Matrix: While she is glad for her freedom, in her quiet moments when she is feeling lonely or has had particularly hard days, Mercy’s thoughts inevitably drift toward the Matrix and her family there. She longs for the sense of belonging and comfort it brought her which she has been unable to find in Zion.
Ambitions Mercy is adrift and has no real ambition except continuing to adapt to her current circumstances while serving the people of Zion with her medical knowledge
Hobbies & Interests Mercy enjoys reading and also flame painting different metals to make jewelry which she wears either for herself or occasionally trades.

She is also particularly good at drawing, though this skill is employed primarily in private journals in which she depicts memories of her life in the Matrix and at times her nightmares of what she saw when she was redpilled and woke in the pod fields of the machines.

The most shocking hobby people would find to be attributed to her is she regularly attends the Temple Raves when she is not working. It is during the raves she feels both able to disappear in the crowd while simultaneously being seen within it.
